Dear Families,
Have you ever thought about the effect you have on people? How you can show Jesus’ love and comfort to them just by your everyday life? That is something I think about and pray about often because of something that happened to me as a child.
The summer after 3rd grade I went to my church’s Vacation Bible School. They had a performer come in and do a special show for us. After his performance, I went to talk with him. He told me Jesus was knocking at the door of my heart and all I had to do was open the door and let him in. He sent me home with this verse: “Behold I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him and he with me" (Revelation 3:20).
As we drove home that afternoon, in the back of my parent's station wagon, I opened the door of my heart and invited Jesus to come in and live with me and be my personal Savior. To this day, I really appreciate the performer and the gift he gave me. He was "Jesus with skin on” for me. Jesus repeatedly tells us to love one another and even though our friends may know who Jesus is, having ‘someone with skin on’ who can bring the warmth of His love is often just what they may need. I try to be that with the children and their families not only here at Sonrise Christian but everywhere. I fall short, as all humans do, but I pray daily that Jesus shines through me and gives His warmth to everyone I come in contact with.
Love,
