Jailhouse Rock

Dear Sonrise Families,

The month of April has come and gone and it’s amazing to see the relationships our students have built with one another through our classroom learning and the experiences we've shared this school year. As I was reflecting on this, I was reminded of the importance of how and why we work at having a relationship with God each day.

For the past few months, our second and third graders have been preparing for their class production of Jailhouse Rock. The actors have been memorizing their lines and the choir and soloists have been practicing their songs. This class production is a reminder of the power of prayer and praise in all situations.

Our class discussed the importance of prayer and praise and how it’s played out in the performance. When we pray we are building and growing in our relationship with God, just as we have been building relationships with each other in class this year. We lean on our friends in difficult situations and God is asking us to do the same with Him; when we praise Him we are able to focus on His glory and less on our concerns. By opening up our hearts to Him, He is able to work in us and through us.

Our second and third grade classes hope you enjoy our performance and are reminded to continue to build a relationship with God by praying and praising Him in all situations.

Philippians 4:6-7
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Love,
