Way back in the 1900’s, I was fresh out of high school and looking for a job. I asked God to direct me and show me where He wanted me to go. The next day, a friend told me about Sonrise. I prayed about it and felt it was from the Lord telling me to apply. I went in for an interview a few days later, it was the summer of 1998. They hired me on the spot. I was so excited that the Lord provided a job for me.
Back then, before LifeScan, you had to go to the Sheriff's station and get your fingerprints done. (They did it the old-fashioned way back then with ink and snail-mail it into Sacramento.) To make a long story short, I didn't start working until over one year later! Sacramento lost my fingerprints TWICE! I also had issues with my birth certificate and social security card…But FINALLY, I was in.
I started in the fall of 1999. I felt like I had to wait forever to start. While I was waiting, I felt forgotten, lost as if I was on the wrong path. I questioned that the job was “from the Lord” Through prayer, the Lord gave me a verse in Psalm 27:14 “Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD” I almost gave up but the Lord told me to wait and He would provide for me. I trusted Him, I waited and here I am, almost 25 years later knowing that working at Sonrise is one of the best things that has ever happened to me.
Is there something that you are waiting for? Is there something that you thought that even though you took the step of faith, it feels like God forgot about you? Let me encourage you to read Psalm 27:14 again. Trust God. He will never leave you or forsake you. All you have to do is wait and seek His will and He will direct your path.
If I chose not to wait, I know my life would be so different. I would have missed out on so many blessings and opportunities that working at Sonrise has brought to me. Don’t give up, don’t miss out on the blessings. Wait on the Lord, let Him strengthen your heart.
