Sonrise Family,
As we look to wrap up another year, we look back on what God has done this year. Sometimes, we don't even realize the good things he has done. I know I can get caught up in the worries of the present and future so much, I often pray fervently for God to move...as though I am asking for the first time! How quickly we forget the good things he has done for us. Right now, I guarantee you teachers and parents all across the country (including myself!) are longing for the coming summer days. We're tired, exhausted, and feeling like the current moment is too much to handle. But we always need to remember the good things God has done.
Psalms 126:3 says, "
Yes, the LORD has done amazing things for us!
What joy!" I know I don't always feel joy when things are extremely busy or chaotic. Despite reading a verse like this, I tell myself, "That's all good and everything, but I need to figure out this moment right now. I can be happy and reflect on the past once I'm done with this." But that is a big part of getting through the present--having joy in remembering the good things God has done. We remember, and the feeling washes over us: my God will get me through.
Although I'm sure this year brought many ups and downs for you, I encourage you to spend some time sitting and thinking about the good things the Lord has done this year in your life and in your family's life. Some might ask what major things he has done at Sonrise this year. The answer for me is quite simple. God allowed your children to learn, grow, and strengthen their biblical foundation this year. For me, there is no greater reward or accomplishment than having children grow in wisdom, stature, and favor with God and man, as Luke 2:52 says. It is our mission here at Sonrise to help carry this out, and seeing it happen this past year is the best example I can think of of seeing the amazing things God has done.
I hope you all have a wonderful summer with your families. We are grateful to play a part in raising your children, and will always seek to do so by teaching them about the goodness of God.
God Bless,
Mr. Wheeler
