Dear Sonrise family,
This is hands down my favorite time of year. It is a time of sharing, giving, and simply being with one another. The holidays can bring a swirl of emotions and a whirlwind of memories, both filled with heartache and joy.
As we prepare to celebrate a season of Thankfulness and Hope, let our hearts be stilled. Allow our troubled thoughts to find refuge in the wings of our Lord (Psalm 91). My prayer is that we would not be caught up in the all-consuming busyness, but that we would work out of our rest (Sabbath), remembering to take time to stop. I get it, this advice sounds idyllic, and perhaps impossible even. As I prepare for Christmas Choir, Barnes and Noble Night, and traveling home for the holidays I feel my own anxieties rise. It's not easy when you feel like you need to be everywhere, all at once. However, it is key to remember that Gratitude overcomes anxiety.
So, when it all feels too much, take a breath, say a prayer of thanks, and remember our Lord gifts us with peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
As for me I am beyond Thankful that God has blessed me to be a part of this Sonrise Family!
Be Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving!
