Spring has arrived here in southern California! I have always loved springtime. Growing up in the Midwest, it was my favorite time of year because the snow would start melting, and birds would come back again. Here in California, we don’t have snow, but it is still exciting to see longer days, warmer temperatures, and the blossoming of flowers and trees. Nature seems to come alive as animals awaken from hibernation and trees blossom. It is a time of a rebirth; a fresh start for nature.
This time of rebirth always reminds me of the new birth that we experience in Christ. As Christians, we can experience this new birth year round. The Bible describes this new birth in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” As this verse teaches, God has the power to restore and renew us. His forgiveness gives us the ability to start fresh, unburdened by our old sins. We can blossom with love, joy, and peace year round because Christ has made us new. I hope that each of you has experienced God’s forgiveness and can reflect on what a blessing it is to be reborn through Him.
