Dear Families,
One of my absolute favorite times of year is now upon us. I don’t know about you but to me, it seems like as soon as December 1st rolls around there is just more peace and cheer surrounding us. I know the fun of Christmas traditions, the lights, family time, and gifts can cause many people to smile but personally, I am joyous at the thought that thousands of years ago I received the biggest gift that still to this day gives life. That’s right, I am talking about Baby Jesus! What a blessing is it to know that God would send His one and only son to earth wrapped in the flesh of an infant. The sight of babies can typically bring a smile to most people but to imagine the glory and elatement Mary experienced to give birth to a baby that was also fully God must've been unimaginable.
Similarly to Mary, my husband and I are currently in a season of preparing to welcome our first bundle of joy in July. As first-time parents, we cannot wait to experience the joys, excitement, and newness of one of God’s greatest blessings, a new life. It makes this season of thinking about the birth of Christ, Mary’s emotions and feelings, the ups and downs, and so much more relatable. But the most significant relation of all that I love is that Mary had faith and was willing to be a servant of the Lord.
My prayer for each and every one of you this Christmas season is to remember the true significance of why we celebrate. We celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We celebrate the sacrifice that He made for us to have life and life more abundantly through his presence and bloodshed. We celebrate that He was and is the ultimate servant. I pray you have a peaceful and joyous Christmas as servants of the Lord and take the time to shine bright as the hands and feet of Jesus this season.
“For to us a Child shall be born, to us a Son shall be given; And the government shall be upon His shoulder, And His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9:6
