Dear Families,
A brand new year is a chance to do things right, or better yet, with no regrets. What’s your new year’s resolution? Joining a gym, a new diet, healthier eating habits, reading the bible in a year, or praying more. It’s okay to set goals, however, they are not always easy to follow through with.
I have to be honest, I don’t set goals I know I won’t be able to keep. When Covid hit, it changed our lives forever. On January 3rd last year, my husband was released from the hospital after 53 days. I almost lost him a few times. During this time, all I could do was pray and ask others to pray with me. My Sonrise family was there in prayer and encouragement. I can’t begin to tell you the tears I cried and the peace I had that surpassed all understanding. I never gave up hope.
It was important to me that doctors, nurses, and specialists knew my God was in control. No matter what the test results said or what negative words were shared, it was important for me to say to everyone who cared for him, ”My God is in control and I know my husband will be okay.”
There is one thing that I know for sure, we can plan our lives and set goals for our children and ourselves, but God is the one who is in control of our lives. God is the one who has the last say in our lives.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. -Jeremiah 29:11
